FAREWELL

  “I don't know how you say good-bye to whom and what you love. I don't know a painless way to do it, I don't know the words to capture a heart so full and a longing so intense.” Farewell is the word that describe good bye. For me it is not necessarily good bye to the subject;but It is the continuous step by step learning.
In the begging of the semester,I thought English subject will be hard and boring for me;because I am not to good in English subject.I can say that I have the moderate ability, and I need to improve it;even if I am one of the lazy student who does every I want. But time comes, I am forced to study;because of my professor. I am inspired to him,especially to his life and his goals that he reached already.He taught us well.He make sure that his students learned from him;and I am one of them.I learned how to give importance to my studies,friend and families that will inspire us to pursue our goals. I will miss the way he teach,the funny jokes and his inspiring words to us. It is my pleasure so say Thank you very much Sr. Mabu for sharing your powerful knowledge and your inspiring life to us. Surely I will miss everything in our class, my friends,classmates and your words for us :) I can say that “We learned something from everyone who passes through our lives. Some lessons are painful, some are painless.. but, all are priceless.”

English Week

   Last September 13, 2013, our class was invited in the Mini Theater to watch a speech for celebrating the English Week. The topic was "how important nowadays is right grammar especially now with our advanced technologies". Honestly when I entered the mini theater ,I felt so nervous even if I am not the contestant,because of their clear and wonderful explanation that makes me think that, can I do that same thing like them? can I deliver my speech organize like them?. That was the questions running in my mind . All contest was good;but for me last student delivered the speech well. She was so simple that time;and I doubt that she will be boring to watch.I thought that her speech will be long.But I am wrong,She was so confident.I am amazed with her,on how she speaks and how she delivered the speech well.I am inspired to her. I want to learn more to be like her.

PERSONAL OPINION

  I am thankful for all of those who said NO to me. Its because of them I’m inspired to change myself. Living this world is not only being rebel,mischievous and doing what you want, just to make you happy in times of having problem but It is a manner of thinking the ways to pass the problem without sham.
I remember my high school days, First week of the school and I had a case already. I was very naughty that time;and I am the one who always start bullying my classmates.How bad I am;but my only reason was I want to get over and to be happy in my own ways;even if I harm others. I was a rebel child from my parents.I think they didn't love me.I think they didn't even care for me.That was my feeling before. I and my mother was always fighting; because I have one word ,if want to go I will go even if they don't like.I always answer back especially when my mother says something that I didn't want to hear.That was why I looked for friends who will accept,love,care,understand and who will make me happy unlike my parents.My life got ruined;because of the bad influences of my friends. I learned to drink, smoke and cut my classes as long as I want.I always blame my parents that time.I always said to them that , You are the reason why I am like this ,you are the reason why I ruined my life and my mother was astonished and keep quiet in the corner; She cried and I left her.I didn't care about her that time. I was thinking that , It is good for her to cry for her to realized her imperfections.But I day I realized that I am wrong.I should not be like that to my parents. They are the one who gave me life;so I should love them more than my self. I grab the opportunity to say sorry in our retreat.I made a long letter for my mom asking for sorry and understanding about my behavior to her. I am touched when she say that "It is all right, every person change and I believe that you can do it". I said yes ,Thank you mom.Like my mom said I can do it, I changed and now I am facing my life with all positive thoughts.
Life is full of trials , we just need to face it and never give up.Love our parents.Be thankful to them.People can change ,just trust your self and the glory of God will be yours.

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of who you are; and being contented and confident is a prove that you are proud of who you are. Nowadays, Life is like a stairs, some are in the top who always shines, some are in the middle that pursue to shines and some are in the lower part who are trying even if it is hard to catch.
Whenever I listen this beautiful song; It reminds me to be always confident and contented from who I am. I am not rich like others. I am not too beautiful and intelligent like them; but I am just a simple girl who is contented from what I am. Contentment is a pearl of great price, and whoever procures it at the expense of thousand desires makes a wise and a happy purchase and Being confident is not something that you can wear like a T-shirt or a gold watch but the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.
The song says “This is real, this is me. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be, now. Gonna let the light, shine on me. Now I've found, who I am. There's no way to hold it in. No more hiding who I want to be”. It is a simple lyrics that reminds me to become real contented and confident from who I am. God gave me this life so I should love and take care of it .

Banning and Transferring of vehicles to the new terminal by MMDA

   A newly-opened terminal for provincial buses disallowed from entering Metro Manila has reduced the number of illegal buses in the city. The establishment of integrated terminals is meant to get rid of “colorum” and “out-of-line” vehicles since it comes equipped with biometric technology that disallows unauthorized drivers from plying their routes. It is a new beginning for the bus operators, workers and for the students;and the inconvenience of the new terminal that brings another burden for the commuters.Instead of  relaxing and continuous travel, It became messy and uncomfortable.It is also one of the reason of being late; because there is no system.I hope MMDA will have a better understanding of the inconvenience this new terminal/set-up brings.Commuters, after a long day of class and other engagements. We deserve a decent opportunity to rest even on travel period.But I will be satisfied  if MMDA will introduce a system of commuting to have a fast and convenience travel for the students especially in the morning ; so we can easily go to school early.I know it is done with a good reason. I should have patience and more understanding about this;so I will not be disappointed regarding this issue.

Typhoon Maring

 Truly,typhoon Maring was one of the devastating typhoons in our Cavite province has encountered with.But those from Tanza, Noveleta, Cavite City and Geneneral Trias were affected more which led to two casualties and hundreds of homeless.Underlying in this unfortunate incident, is more serious problem on flood control and disaster management. Like bamboo, although bent and swayed caviteneos never succomb. purposely this event ignited camaraderie and selfless acts for those who generously extended help. Strengthen caviteneos came as one. Beneath this catastrophe is a striking lesson that environment has to be taken care at a maximum level. Indeed typhoon Maring is a wake up call for everyone of our responsibilities both to mature and human.

Making Inferences, Predictions and Assumption

 The last time topic was Making Inferences, Predictions and Assumption plus the Types and Methods of Communication. Inference is the act or process of deriving logical conclusions from premises known or assumed to be true. The conclusion drawn is also called an idiomatic. Inference can be defined in another way. Inference is the non-logical, but rational, means, through observation of patterns of facts, to indirectly see new meanings and contexts for understanding. Next was Prediction. It is a statement about the way things will happen in the future, often but not always based on experience or knowledge. Next was Assumption. It is a statement that is assumed to be true and from which a conclusion can be drawn; hypothesis that is taken for granted. Last The Types and Methods of Communication .


For a conversation to flow, The sender should use the methods of communication to continue talking and the receiver should answer well to have a wonderful conversation; so the conversation will not be boring and end up easily; by knowing the inference, prediction and assumption will help the conversation work and understand easily by explaining what is right, true or wrong. To sum it up , I learned the difference of the three and when we will use it correctly ;and It is also one way to deeper the conversation with the sender and receiver.

    Last meeting tackled  about the What is Communication and  Types & Methods of Communication  . Communicationis “any act by which one person gives to or receives from another person information about that person's needs, desires, perceptions, knowledge, or affective states.Communication requires a sender, a message, and a recipient, although the receiver doesn't have to be present or aware of the sender's intent to communicate at the time of communication; thus communication can occur across vast distances in time and space . 
Communication is divided into Three parts :
* Words (7%),
*Style (38%) 
*Body Language (55%).
 The Types and Methods of Communication are Conversation, Gesture, Written, Visual and Multimedia.
 For a conversation to flow, The sender should use the methods of communication to continue talking and the receiver should answer well to have a wonderful conversation; so the conversation will not  be boring and end up easily.To sum it up , I learned different skills on how a conversation will work.We should apply it for us to have a good conversation with our friends, teachers, family and to others.

 Recognizing Facts vs. Opinions

  Last tuesday, August 05,2013 we discuss about  "Recognizing Facts vs. Opinions" .First we tackled about FACTS ;and honestly I am confussed with it. What is Facts? Facts  is a statement that can be proven by direct experience or objective verification.  Examples of reliable sources for a fact are history book, measurements, statistics, proven scientific law, governmental law and observation.It can be checked for accuracy. If proven true,it is a fact; if it is untrue,it is an error. Observation is also a fact because they are proven by senses,but facts can also change overtime. After that we tackled Opinions. Opinions are not really recognized or proven. It is only base on personal expression or thoughts . Opinions can be Valid, Faulty or Informed and there are FIVE types of opinions:

•  Hypothesis statement- an assumption made in an attempt to explain an observation.
• Theory statement-an explanation for a group of observation.
• Assumptive statement- an opinion that has an improbable prediction. 
•  Value statement- describes as any claim that is based on someone’s beliefs.
•  Exaggerated statement- one embellishes the facts, often to sway the reader. Maybe, perhaps, worst/best, experts agree, successful, necessary, apparently and probably are words that may warn a person that they are being given an opinion and not a fact.

      After the discussion we had a quiz. I got a passing grade;and I am still confused in identifying what  Facts and Opinion ;because some opinions are like facts but it is consider as opinions. I know soon  that I will improve my knowledge about this, and it will help us a lot to determine what is real and what is an expressions only; to avoid misunderstandings and gossips.

 Closed and Open Question

  Last time we discuss about "Closed and Open Question". First we define what is Closed and Open Question. Closed Question  as Sr. Mabuan said it  can be answered with either a single word or a short phrase. It also answered with either 'yes' or 'no'. This kind of conversation is not approriate;because, It stop the conversation easily .The conversation will be boring if you continue talking and answering Yes or No.Second we tackled Open Question.Open Question is likely to receive a long answer:It is an opposite of Closed Question.It is much better to use.It makes the conversation alive;because,of 'wh' Question such as what,where,when,who and why.We should also know how to keep the conversation on going by following the seven ways. First, give a little more information than is asked for, Second , make a related comment, Third, repeat key words, Fourth , react in some creative way or they call it rejoinders, Fifth,add comments, Sixth, ask a related questions and the Last ,use question tags.After the discussion:We prepared for the oral quiz to test if we really understand the lesson well; by presenting a short conversation in the class.I am really glad that I understand the lesson, and as proof we got 100% with my partner.To sum it up, Open Question is much better to use than Close Question . I am very thankful that I learned the lessons well. I know it will help me to engage in a good conversation especially in my future job.

Punzalan ,I was born on June 19,1997 and  I am 16 years old already,I am from Barangay Tolentino East, Tagaytay City, I am the eldest daughter of Mrs. Anabel Punzalan who is a very loving, caring and the best cook ever and my father  Mr. Alberto Punzalan who is a very jolly and sweet father to me .I am a type of  person who is very conservative and conscious of what is happening on my surroundings .I am also a jolly and noisy person who is fun to be with, so WELCOME to my world.

     During my elementary days,My parents sent me to  Father Michael Donoher Memorial School , one of the catholic schools in Cavite . I was an honor student there since I entered  the school "Kinder to Grade 6 " because I was really active and my mom was always their support and to push me to study hard , I graduated with honors and awards and they are so happy that I did it . The second chapter of my life begins when I entered high school in Infant Jesus Academy of Silang Inc. . The happiest & wildness chapter of my life where God  tested my weakness and strength as a person because there's a lot of problems I encountered that affect my attitudes and my relationship with my family and that  was the time when I met God, I put him in the center of my life  that helped me to become a good person again . We all know that people can change, now I know what is right from wrong and then  another journey begins . I am a TOURISM student of Lyceum of the Philippines. I take tourism as my course because I want to travel the world. I am also inspired by my cousins who take the same course and they are now successful. As a start of my journey as a college student I am getting more serious about my study so I can achieve my goals. I want to be a successful flight attendant someday and I am willing to do every thing just to reach it even if there's a lot of challenges will come. I will do my very best to achieve it that's why I am studying well.
